Tasting Room Approved and Open this Weekend!
Yesterday the state came by to check out / approve the tasting room. After a short inspection, they gave us the go ahead to open!!! (We just need to do a tiny bit more paperwork, of course
.) What this means is that we are opening our tasting room this Saturday, August 13th from 12 to 5 pm. Since it is the first weekend we will be open, we will have a few hours on Sunday, August 14th as well -12 – 3pm. We will figure out and post our remaining summer hours over the next several days.
So what can you expect when you stop by? We will have five beers available for tasting and growler fills. Also, if anyone is so inclined, we can give you a little tour of our little brewery. Here are the beers we plan to have available:
- Spicy Bohemian – a seasonal that we do, which is our base pilsener recipe, dry-hopped with Jalapenos. This was the first keg kicked at the NH Brew Fest a few weeks back.
- Hog Happy Hefeweizen (German-style wheat beer)
- Dippity Do (our American Brown)
- Hosptruck (Red IPA)
- Maple-kissed wheat porter
(Note- our Campfire Smoked Porter and Fat Alberta Imperial Stout will be rolled out over the next month or two as we get into some cooler weather. Also, we ran out of the Pilsener, but we have a batch lagering as we speak.)
We will sell 2-Liter growlers of the five beers on tap. (Note, for the curious, 2 liters is just over 67 ounces, or 4.2 pints. ) We think our growlers are pretty darn sexy – they look like this:
In terms of pricing, an empty growler will cost 12 dollars, which is equal to the cost we paid for the glass + printing. Yes, the growlers are a bit more expensive than a regular screw-top clear glass bottle, but we think they are worth it for many reasons. Here are just a few:
- The swing-top will ensure that our product stays carbonated and fresh tasting longer than a regular screw top, which can sometimes be prone to leaking.
- We really hope that you guys will “make the growlers your own”, so to speak. Love them. Wash them. Bring them back on a regular based to be replenished. In short, reuse!
- They are just really, really nice-looking and solid, so we are pretty proud of them!
We will also have merchandise for sale. Here are a few of the items we have available now:
Our 5 oz tasting glass. Although a bit hard to read through the stout, the front says Throwback Brewery
Our 21.5 oz pint glass:
Here is the back:
We will also have several t-shirts for sale. This is the men’s version of our ‘No Farms No Beer’ tshirt. The women’s version is a nice green color. We will also have a standard black Throwback Brewery logo t-shirt, and perhaps a few others if they come in in time.
We hope to see some folks this weekend!

This is awesome news! Congratulations!
Thanks, Diane!
Congrats! I’m going to try and rally up some troops from Rochester/Somersworth area to stop by on Sunday. A few of us got into home-brewing two years ago so I really like your story and can’t wait to taste the beers!
Patrick- Sounds great – hope to see you Sunday!
Yippee, and congratulations! Can’t wait to come check out the place. Nice swag, too.
Thanks, Pam! We should have your tshirt here if you want to stop by!
Will you fill any other growlers? I have my own 2-litre swing-tops (among about 2 dozen). Hate to have to add more glassware if I don’t have to…. And, rought cost for the fill itself?
Thnx, and best of luck!
Hi DJD. Unfortunately, we can’t fill other growlers. Everything has to be labeled properly and approved by the state… so it isn’t legal for us to do that. Hopefully we should have our 22oz bottles available in the next several weeks. (Still waiting for our labels to finish printing.) The growler fills will depend on the beer / our cost to make the beer. For this coming weekend, fills are 10 to 14 dollars. 10 for the Hef and Brown. 12 for the red ipa and Jalapeno Pils. 14 for the maple wheat porter. thanks!
Really it needs to be labeled with the exact brew being filled too doesn’t it (that’s how stone does it)? Can’t we get around all this silliness and just slap a label on it?
Also, will you do growler exchanges once we want a second fill up, or do we wash and re-fill our own?
Thanks!

Hi, Aaron – Yes, the exact beer brand name needs to be on the label. We got the ok to put a small sticker on the top with the beer name.
If someone comes back for a refill, they should bring their growler back clean. We are too small to add growler washing on to our daily task list
Hey Ladies!
So stoked to hear your tasting room is open! I get out of work at 3:30 on Sat. so I will be up with a few friends check it out around 4! Really looking forward to it!
Congratulations, Throwback! Can’t wait to get a growler fill. See you this weekend!
Cheers!
Hi Nicole and crew….
Glad to have been able to stop by today (with my daughter, Caitlin). Enjoyed your brews, especially the red IPA and the Maple Wheat Porter…. All the best to y’all, and if there’s anything I can do to help….
Prosit!!!
David
David – thanks for coming out! great to meet your and Caitlin!
Hi ladies! It was such a pleasure to meet you yesterday and sample your delicious beers. There was not a single brew that disagreed with me. Just delicious!
I took home a growler of Spicy Bohemian and Maple Porter – but that is NOT going to last me very long (my boyfriend just about died of happiness *smelling* the Spicy Bohemian). When are you going to be open again for refills? You’ve earned a lifelong customer!!!
Hi, Sarah – Thanks for stopping by, it was great to meet you as well! Thanks also for the nice feedback! I just updated our website with hours. Hope to see you (and your boyfriend
soon!
Glad we stopped in today. I have driven past the shop for the past couple days on my way to work. All three beers I sampled were great. So nice to meet the owners. Everyone needs to swing by and grab a sample and get some for the homestead. Be back soon. Looking forward to getting a growler.
